The United States and the United Kingdom are “obstructing the settlement efforts led by the UN envoy to Yemen,” First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyanskiy, said on Thursday.
“The United States only knows Gunboat diplomacy,” Polyanskiy said when referring to the US ongoing Naval aggression on Yemeni territories.
He said that Washington and London are fueling the fire in Yemen instead of working toward de-escalation in the region.
The Russian diplomat warned against the consequences of militarizing the Red Sea, saying that such actions “will not lead to de-escalation but [have the] opposites [effects].”
War on Gaza threatens regional, global security
On the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, Polyanskiy said that the continuation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip “threatens the region and the world with grave consequences.”
The Israeli war on Gaza launched on October 7 prompted several Resistance factions in West Asia to take action in support of Palestinians and their Resistance. Heading Naval operations were the Yemeni Armed Forces, as they responded to the directives of Ansar Allah leader, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi. These operations culminated in multiple drones and ballistic missile attacks on Israeli positions in occupied Palestine and Naval operations against vessels heading to Israeli-occupied ports.
Interference from the US-UK-led coalition, via continuous violations of Yemeni sovereignty, spurred the YAF to expand its scope of confrontation and target US and UK warships in the Red Sea as merchant vessels with US or UK affiliation.
On Thursday, Al Mayadeen‘s correspondent in Yemen reported US-UK aerial aggression targeted the coastal province of Hodeidah on the Red Sea, west of Yemen.
American and British fighter jets targeted with four separate airstrikes the al-Jah district in Beit al-Faqi Directorate, south of the Governorate, he added.
The attack comes one day after the two countries targeted, with four waves of strikes, the Hodeidah International Airport.
