Early Wednesday morning, Lebanon’s Hezbollah announced that it had launched a missile attack on Israel’s “Ilaniya” base.
In a statement, Hezbollah claimed to have targeted the Israeli base with a barrage of Fadi 1 missiles. Additionally, the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” issued a statement declaring that it had launched a drone strike on an Israeli target near the Jordan Valley.
Israeli Army Radio reported that a drone had crashed in the town of Sapir in the Arava Valley.
The United Nations Security Council is set to hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday to discuss the situation in Lebanon, following Israeli strikes that have reportedly killed over 500 people, according to Slovenia’s mission, which currently holds the council’s rotating presidency.
In recent days, Israel and Hezbollah have engaged in their most intense fighting since the 2006 Lebanon War.
On Tuesday, the Israeli military conducted an airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, targeting and reportedly killing Hezbollah’s head of rocket and missile systems, Ibrahim Mohammad al-Qabisi.
Hezbollah has suffered significant losses, with several of its top military commanders killed and its communication systems compromised. Israeli officials stated that a substantial portion of Hezbollah’s rocket and missile arsenal has been destroyed in recent days.
