The Iranian Nuclear Issue Cannot be Resolved with Phony Confrontations
The Chinese envoy to international organizations in Vienna called for avoiding confrontation regarding Iran’s nuclear program during a meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
“Li Sang” stated at the Board of Governors meeting: “Beijing welcomes cooperation between Iran
and the IAEA in resolving the remaining security issues.”
Furthermore, he mentioned that China highly values the positive interactions between the IAEA
Director General “Rafael Grossi” and the Iranian side, as well as the positive outcomes achieved
during Grossi’s meeting with Iran last week.
He added: “Facts have repeatedly proven that creating artificial confrontations and escalating
conflicts within the Council will not solve the problem but will lead to risks of deteriorating
cooperation between Iran and the Agency, further complicating this issue.”
He emphasized that the fundamental solution to addressing concerns related to nuclear
proliferation lies in political, diplomatic efforts, and constructive cooperation within multilateral
frameworks.
