Peskov: No Military Draft Considered Due to High Voluntary Enlistment
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, has confirmed that the authorities are not
considering any form of military conscription, given the substantial number of volunteers and the
benefits and wages offered to those volunteering for military operations in Ukraine.
Peskov noted that hundreds of men are volunteering daily for the military operation, negating any
need for a draft or mandatory call-up for service.
The Russian Ministry of Defense provides extensive social benefits to volunteers and their
families, which include, among the highest pay in the country, free apartments, free university
admission for volunteers’ children, early retirement, priority in employment for civilian and
administrative jobs post-operation, and a long list of other benefits including free tourist trips for
volunteers and their families.
President Vladimir Putin personally oversees the fulfillment of the state’s obligations towards
volunteers, holding regular meetings with military personnel and their families to listen to their
needs and suggestions, ensuring they receive the best possible conditions under the framework
of the government’s “Defenders of the Fatherland” Fund.
