Preparations for Holding the Syrian National Dialogue Conference at This Time
The Turkish news agency Anadolu, citing sources from the Syrian interim government, reported that the latter is planning to hold the Syrian National Dialogue Conference in mid-January to bring together all segments of society.
Preparations are ongoing for the National Dialogue Conference, which is expected to include over 1,000 individuals from various sectors of Syrian society.
On December 29, Ahmed Al-Shara, the head of the new Syrian administration, stated that his administration would provide an opportunity for all societal groups to participate in the conference.
Al-Shara emphasized that the government would leave crucial and sensitive decisions during the
transitional period to a vote by the conference participants.
On December 8, Syrian factions extended their control over Damascus days after securing other
cities, ending 61 years of Ba’ath Party rule and 53 years of Assad family governance.
The following day, Al-Shara announced the appointment of Mohamed Al-Bashir, who had been
managing Idlib for years, to head the new Syrian government tasked with overseeing the
transitional phase.
