Brazilian statistics agency data revealed that Brasilia this year purchased the first batch of enriched natural uranium from Russia, for the first time since 1999.
Data from Brazil’s statistics agency indicated that after a local company signed a contract with the Russian company “Rosatom” last year, to fully supply it with enriched uranium at Brazil’s only nuclear power plant in the Angra region, for the period 2023-2027.
This spring, the state company said it had also signed another contract with the company, but for the supply of natural uranium, as Brazil this summer, for the first time since 1999, imported from Russia 27.1 tons of uranium-enriched fuel worth $18.9 million.
