The Iraqi Oil Minister announced that the Turkish authorities had been informed of the resumption of oil export operations from the Kurdistan region in northern Iraq through the Turkish port of Ceyhan, starting from Saturday, after stopping for more than a month.
According to a statement issued by Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani’s office, the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) “informed the Turkish BOTAS company to resume export and loading operations, as of Saturday, May 13.
This comes hours after the autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government announced that it had reached an agreement with Baghdad regarding the resumption of exporting the region’s oil and sent an official request to Turkey in this regard.
