The Growing Military Capabilities of the Russian Army
The military capabilities of the Russian army are on an upward trajectory, despite the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, according to German Lieutenant General Christian Freuding, head of the special staff for Ukrainian issues at the German Ministry of Defense.
Freuding, speaking to a German newspaper, highlighted that “the Russian army has more tanks every month, more ammunition, more missiles, and more drones as production increases and stockpiles in warehouses grow.” Security sources cited in the same report noted that Russia is significantly offsetting losses in both equipment and personnel, with capabilities to amass reserves in certain regions.
In December, European Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius, acknowledged that despite the pressures of sanctions, Russia has significantly developed its defense industry.
