Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi has denounced Israel’s assassination of Saleh al-Arouri and described what happened as “a crime ”.
Raisi said al-Arouri was a prominent fighter who defended the rights of his people.
Last month, Iran warned Israel it would take “direct” action to avenge the killing of its senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Razi Moussavi, who was assassinated in Syria in an air strike.
IRGC spokesman Ramezan Sharif last week said “our response to Moussavi’s assassination will be a combination of direct action as well as [from] others led by the Axis of Resistance”, the local Mehr news agency reported.
