President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed today the United Nations Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.
During the meeting, President Abbas briefed the guest on the latest developments regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, as well as the efforts made to immediately halt the Israeli war of genocide.
The President further stressed the importance of expediting the entry of essential humanitarian, relief, and medical aid into the Gaza Strip in order to enable shelters and hospitals to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians during these challenging times.
President Abbas reiterated the State of Palestine’s unequivocal rejection of the displacement of any Palestinian citizen, whether in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
He affirmed that Gaza is an integral part of the State of Palestine, and that any plan by Israel, the occupying power, to separate it from the rest of Palestinian land or annex any part of it is utterly rejected.
The President underscored the imperative to halt the Israeli occupation’s continuous attacks against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the crimes of terrorist colonists, and the withholding of Palestinian clearance funds.
He commended the efforts of Mrs. Sigrid Kaag and her team, expressing gratitude to the UN Secretary-General for his continuous efforts to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and achieve security, stability, and peace in the region according to international legitimacy.
Both parties agreed to continue joint coordination to enhance the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip, including the northern region. They also discussed coordinating and planning for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip after the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the enclave.
