On the sidelines of the 33rd Arab Summit, which will commence tomorrow, President Mahmoud Abbas met with Special Envoy of the Russian President for the Middle East and Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, at his residence in the Bahraini capital, Manama.
President Abbas briefed the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, particularly the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and efforts exerted to end the war of genocide and ensure the entry of humanitarian and medical aid into the Strip.
The president warned against the serious Israeli aggression in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including the ongoing Israeli forces’ incursion into Palestinian cities, towns and camps, the killing of Palestinian residents, the destruction of properties, the continuing crimes carried out by terrorist colonists and the desecration of Islamic and Christian holy sites, especially in the city of Jerusalem.
The President affirmed that the State of Palestine will continue its quest to obtain full membership in the United Nations.
President Abbas conveyed his greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin, praising Russia’s positions in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and its rejection of the Israeli aggression.
The president expressed pride in the friendship and solidarity relations uniting the two countries and peoples.
For his part, Bogdanov conveyed President Putin’s greetings to President Mahmoud Abbas, reiterating his country’s support for the right of Palestinian people to realize their hopes and aspirations for freedom and to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
