The Palestinian leadership has once again emphasized the urgent need for a complete and permanent cessation of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and all of the Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Palestine.
“This includes an immediate halt to attacks by Israeli occupation forces and settler violence against Palestinians and their sacred sites in the West Bank and Jerusalem,” said the leadership in a press statement.
The Palestinian leadership stressed the necessity for the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza, calling for opening and handover of all border crossings of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority as per signed agreements, including the 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access.
“This would ensure the consistent delivery of humanitarian aid and essential supplies to the residents of Gaza,” said the statement.
The leadership also highlighted the importance of preventing the displacement of Palestinians, ensuring the return of displaced persons to their homes, and securing housing, relief aid, and essential services such as water, electricity, healthcare, and education, ultimately leading to the reconstruction of Gaza.
The leadership reiterated that “peace, security, and stability can only be achieved through a political solution based on international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative. This includes ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
The Palestinian leadership expressed gratitude to the countries that have recently recognized the State of Palestine and those that have supported Palestine politically and economically.
The leadership particularly noted the outcomes of the recent donor conference in Brussels, which aims to empower the Palestinian government to fulfill its national duties amidst Israel’s withholding of Palestinian clearance funds and strangulation of the Palestinian economy.
