Local sources have confirmed that Israeli airstrikes in Jabalia, northern Gaza, have set fire to a four-story residential building housing women and children. The fire continues to rage as families inside desperately call for help, but rescue operations remain impossible due to the ongoing bombardment.
The building belongs to the Sharif family, located in the al-Falouja area, west of the Jabalia refugee camp. The camp has been under siege for a week by Israeli forces, who have blocked all aid and continue to destroy essential infrastructure, leaving the residents in dire conditions.
Medical Aid Blocked
Medical teams reported being unable to reach the scene due to the heavy Israeli bombardment and tight control over movement in the area by the Israeli military. The ongoing airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of four people from the al-Sayyed family, whose home was also targeted in the same area.
Eyewitnesses report that Israeli shelling and air raids have been relentless, focusing on western Jabalia, particularly al-Falouja, and areas surrounding the Hindi and Furqan mosques, as well as the “Six Martyrs” area.
Heavy Casualties and Destruction
According to Palestinian media, 29 people have been killed in Gaza since Tuesday morning due to the Israeli strikes, with many more wounded and missing. The destruction includes numerous residential buildings, especially in Jabalia, which has been the focal point of the Israeli military’s assault for 11 days.
Jabalia has become the center of an Israeli offensive, with the military completing the encirclement of the historic refugee camp. Tanks have advanced into nearby towns, such as Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun, in a bid to eliminate Hamas fighters, who are attempting to regroup in the area.
Calls for International Intervention
Amid the worsening situation, four Israeli human rights organizations have issued a joint statement, warning the global community of complicity in the mass displacement of Palestinians from northern Gaza if no action is taken to prevent it.
In a previous report, Gaza’s Government Media Office confirmed that over 342 Palestinians had been killed since the start of the Israeli assault. The campaign continues to block aid and food supplies, causing widespread hunger.
Continued Strikes in Central and Southern Gaza
Israeli airstrikes have also targeted central and southern Gaza. In the central Gaza Strip, two people were killed and several others injured when a home in northwestern Nuseirat was hit. Meanwhile, in the south, a strike on a home in Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis, killed 10 people and injured several others. Another strike in the al-Fukhari area of Khan Younis resulted in the deaths of five civilians.
Civilians Trapped Under Bombardment
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) reported that Palestinians in Gaza are trapped under relentless bombardment, describing the situation as a “genocidal war” against the population. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the organization condemned Israel’s seventh strike on the grounds of al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital since March 2024.
The organization emphasized the urgent need for the international community to protect medical facilities and health workers, demanding an immediate halt to attacks on healthcare infrastructure.
Devastating Human Toll
The ongoing Israeli military campaign, supported by the United States, has resulted in over 140,000 Palestinian casualties, including the deaths of tens of thousands of children and the elderly. More than 10,000 people remain missing, and the destruction has left Gaza in a humanitarian crisis, with mass starvation claiming additional lives.
