UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, has condemned the Israeli occupation for carrying out systematic extrajudicial executions of civilians in Gaza. Albanese emphasized that these executions, which also target children, are not isolated incidents but rather part of a broad, deliberate strategy employed by Israeli forces in the region.
Albanese stated that these acts of violence are not random but reflect a deeply entrenched policy of occupation. She commented on the severity of the situation, saying, “The execution of Palestinians, including children, is a systematic and widespread practice of the Israeli occupation forces.”
Massacre in Northern Gaza
Last week, Albanese commented on the ongoing Israeli assaults on northern Gaza, describing the situation as another massacre. She said that the Israeli forces, backed by Western powers, are killing Palestinians in Jabalia with “brutality and sadism.”
In a powerful statement, she remarked, “What we are witnessing in Jabalia is nothing short of a massacre, where Palestinians are killed with cruel and sadistic methods, armed with Western support.”
Human Rights Experts Call for Action
Francesca Albanese is among 40 United Nations human rights experts who have called on governments around the world to apply political pressure to end Israel’s illegal occupation, apartheid policies, and oppression of the Palestinian people. In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, the experts condemned the continued inaction of the international community, despite the ruling by the International Court of Justice declaring Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories unlawful.
The experts warned, “If we do not act now, the entire structure of international law and the rule of law in global matters is at serious risk.”
