Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent call to stop arms supplies to Israel in its ongoing conflict against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
In a statement, Netanyahu said, “While Israel is fighting barbaric forces led by Iran, all respectful nations should firmly support Israel. Yet, President Macron and other Western leaders are now calling for an arms embargo on Israel. They should be ashamed.”
Netanyahu emphasized that Israel is engaged in a multi-front war against groups backed by Iran.
He added, “Is Iran imposing an arms embargo on Hezbollah, the Houthis, Hamas, and its other proxies? Of course not.”
He expressed his disappointment that countries that should stand against terror are advocating to stop supplying arms to Israel, calling it a “shameful” stance.
He assured that Israel will win this war even without their support, but the “disgrace” of these countries will be remembered long after Israel’s victory.
“Rest assured, Israel will fight until it wins, for our sake and for global peace and security,” he concluded.
In response, the Élysée Palace affirmed late Saturday that France remains an “unwavering friend to Israel,” after Netanyahu’s critical remarks regarding Macron’s suggestion.
The Élysée described Netanyahu’s reaction as “excessive and unrelated to the strong friendship between France and Israel.”
