Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Iranian proxies made a “grave mistake” in attempting to assassinate him and his wife following a drone attack on their home in Caesarea this Saturday.
In a statement issued by his office, Netanyahu emphasized that the alleged assassination attempt “will not deter” him or Israel from continuing their fight against enemies, vowing to secure the nation’s future.
“I tell the Iranians and their partners in the axis of evil: anyone who harms Israeli citizens will pay a heavy price,” Netanyahu warned. He further asserted, “We will achieve all the objectives we set for this war, and we will change the security landscape in our region for generations to come.”
While Israeli officials were quick to accuse Iran and its proxies of being behind the attack, no group, including Hezbollah, has claimed responsibility. Israeli authorities have released few details regarding the damage caused by the attack, maintaining strict military and political secrecy.
Earlier on Saturday, Netanyahu’s office reported that a drone launched from Lebanon struck his Caesarea residence. Israeli media outlets reported that the explosion caused by the drone was “extremely loud.” The Israeli Army Radio confirmed that the drone was the same model used in previous strikes, such as one that targeted a Golani Brigade base, which is difficult to intercept.
According to the “Walla” news site, Israeli military helicopters pursued the drone throughout its flight, yet it still managed to strike Netanyahu’s home. Fortunately, neither Netanyahu nor his wife were present at the time of the attack, as confirmed by a source in his office speaking to Israel’s Channel 12.
The drone reportedly traveled 70 kilometers from Lebanon before hitting the Caesarea property directly. Caesarea is home to Netanyahu’s residence as well as those of many prominent Israeli business figures.
