Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf discussed Thursday with China’s Ambassador to Syria Shi Hongwei means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the new phase of early recovery and reconstruction in all areas.
The two sides affirmed they are keen on providing necessary supplies to accelerate the assessment of damaged buildings in addition to carrying out development projects, notably those contributing to the return of people affected by the earthquake to their homes at the earliest.
Makhlouf underlined the deeply-rooted ties between the two countries, hailing China’s support for Syria in all international forums and its vital role in the humanitarian response to the earthquake.
China was the one of the earliest countries to dispatch humanitarian assistance and emergency supplies to those affected, Makhlouf noted.
Hongwei, for his part, asserted that China will sustain providing humanitarian aid that meet the requirements for each phase, ranging from tools for detecting earthquake-damaged buildings to the food assistance and others.
He extended condolences to the families of the victims by the devastating earthquake, praising the country’s endeavors to mitigate its impacts.
