Champions League Roundup: Real Madrid’s Five-Star Show and Bayern Munich’s Stumble
In a commanding display in the UEFA Champions League, Spanish giants Real Madrid trounced Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg 5-1 at home during the seventh matchday of the group stage. This victory has boosted Real Madrid’s point tally to 12, placing them in the 16th position and securing their progression towards the knockout rounds.
Rodrygo opened the scoring for Real Madrid in the 23rd minute, followed by another from him in the 34th. Kylian Mbappé added the third in the 48th minute, with Vinícius Júnior sealing the deal with goals in the 55th and 77th minutes. Salzburg managed a consolation goal through Mads Bidstrup in the 85th minute.
In another match from the same round, Bayern Munich suffered an unexpected defeat at home against Feyenoord with a 0-3 scoreline. Santiago Giménez scored twice for Feyenoord in the first half, in the 21st minute and during stoppage time, before Iéasé Odéda added a third in the 89th minute. This result propelled Feyenoord to 13 points, jumping to the 11th position and enhancing their chances of advancing to the round of 16. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s tally remained at 12 points in 15th place, marking their third defeat in the group stage.
Looking ahead, Feyenoord will travel to face Lille in France, while Bayern Munich will host what appears to be a more manageable match against Slovan Bratislava from Slovakia next week.
