- Shoukry reiterated Egypt’s call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza
RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry underscored on Sunday the urgent priority of halting the conflict in Gaza and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Prince Faisal arrived in Cairo early on Sunday for the sixth meeting of the Political Consultation Committee between Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
During the session, Prince Faisal expressed Saudi Arabia’s eagerness for collaborative coordination with Egypt on regional issues.
Shoukry reiterated Egypt’s call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the necessity for the United Nations to facilitate the entry of essential equipment to aid residents of the enclave.
The Egyptian foreign minister criticized the suspension of funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, and said it was a collective punishment for the Palestinians.
He cautioned that allowing Israel to violate international laws could escalate the conflict, emphasizing that the ongoing developments in the Red Sea pose a threat to security with far-reaching consequences for the region.
