President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas Sunday evening received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Tanja Fajon at the presidential headquarters in the city of Ramallah.
President Abbas briefed Fajon on the latest developments on the Palestinian scene in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and the efforts made to stop it immediately and bring in humanitarian and medical aid.
The President touched on the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank, the continued crimes of terrorist colonists, and the violation of Islamic and Christian sanctities, especially in the city of Jerusalem.
President Abbas appreciated Slovenia’s courageous positions in support of international law and international legitimacy resolutions in accordance with the two-state solution, appreciating Slovenia’s recent vote in the Security Council in favor of granting the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations.
The President praised the support that Slovenia provides to the Palestinian people, whether supporting UNRWA or providing aid to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
President Abbas reviewed the efforts of the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations, and the importance of obtaining more recognition of the State of Palestine from countries that have not done so.
