Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mohammad Mustafa, discussed during a meeting in Ramallah with the UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, the importance of coordinating relief efforts for Gaza among all parties.
Mustafa gave a detailed explanation of the government’s short, medium and long-term relief plans for Gaza.
They also discussed the government’s post-war reconstruction plans for the war-torn Strip, emphasizing the need for financial support to enable the government to function.
Mustafa reaffirmed that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian state, stressing that the Palestinian Authority has been responsible for providing services to Gaza’s population since its establishment.
He affirmed the government’s readiness to reopen the Egypt-Rafah crossing to serve the Palestinian people as per signed agreements, including the 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access, provided that the Israeli occupation forces withdraw from the area.
For her part, the UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza stressed that all efforts and pressure were being made to increase the flow of relief aid to the Gaza Strip via all crossings, with a focus on the quality of aid and emergency needs and their distribution to all areas in the Strip.
