Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Monday that Israel requires a “radical change” on its border with Lebanon.
Meeting with U.S. Envoy
According to Agence France-Presse, Netanyahu informed U.S. Middle East envoy Amos Hochstein of his desire for a significant shift regarding the Israeli-Lebanese border. Hochstein is visiting Israel amid ongoing exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and the Israeli military.
Security and Displaced Residents
During their meeting, Netanyahu emphasized that “it will not be possible to return displaced residents without a radical change in the security situation in the north,” according to a statement from his office.
Israel’s Commitment to Security
Netanyahu also noted that “Israel appreciates and respects U.S. support but will ultimately do whatever is necessary to ensure its security.”
