Syrian National Conference Set for Early 2025
Political sources in Syria revealed on Friday that the new leadership in Damascus is working towards organizing an extensive national dialogue meeting that will bring together all segments of the Syrian populace at the beginning of next year.
Mahmoud Marai, the General Secretary of the Democratic Front and head of the Arab Organization for Human Rights, confirmed the plan for a meeting that includes a number of personalities and political forces within Syria in coordination with the Political Operations
Administration. He stated, “We are discussing the organization of a national conference inviting
over 1,200 individuals from all sectors of Syrian society, including civil and military figures,
which would lead to the formation of a constitutional committee and a founding assembly akin to
a parliament, paving the way for elections and the establishment of a government representing all
Syrian citizens.”
Marai further elaborated, “We’ve discussed with the Political Operations Administration that
Syria is a state of citizenship, and it’s crucial to maintain state institutions while allowing internal
political forces to reopen their offices.”
Today, the Political Operations Administration in Syria announced an expanded meeting to
launch this national dialogue, expected to be attended by all institutions and representatives of
the Syrian people.
This conference is seen as a significant step towards political reconciliation and restructuring
within Syria, aiming to foster unity and address the nation’s ongoing political challenges.
