Historic Meeting Between Kurdish Leader Masoud Barzani and SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi
Hoshyar Zebari, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Political Bureau, announced on Thursday that the meeting held today between Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani and General Mazloum Abdi, commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), is a significant achievement towards enhancing Kurdish unity.
On Wednesday, the American news site “The Monitor” revealed that a meeting, described as “very soon,” would take place between Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani and SDF commander General Mazloum Abdi.
Just days before, General Mazloum Abdi welcomed Dr. Hamid Darbandi, a representative of Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, in a meeting that addressed the latest developments on the Kurdish and regional fronts in the city of Al-Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
In a tweet on the platform “X,” Zebari further stated that this meeting between Kurdish leader Barzani and General Abdi would enable the new Syrian rulers in Damascus to achieve a smooth political transition.
Zebari concluded his tweet by expressing gratitude to all allies and friends.
This gathering underscores the ongoing efforts for cooperation and unity among Kurdish
factions, potentially influencing the political landscape in Syria and the broader region. The
dialogue between these influential figures could pave the way for more coordinated Kurdish
actions and a stronger presence in regional politics, highlighting the importance of Kurdish unity
in shaping the future of the Middle East.
