Qatar to Play Key Role in Lebanon’s Reconstruction
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, confirmed on Tuesday that his visit to Beirut is a show of support from Qatar to Lebanon, welcoming the election of Joseph Aoun as President.
Following his meeting with President Aoun at Baabda Palace, Sheikh Mohammed stated, “We look forward to the completion of the formation of the new Lebanese government and the realization of the hopes of the Lebanese people. We reaffirmed our commitment to continue supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces.”
He emphasized the “necessity of implementing Resolution 1701 to restore Lebanon’s sovereignty and
the importance of enforcing the ceasefire agreement and the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the
South.”
He also announced Qatar’s rejection of Israel’s violations of the ceasefire terms and the infringement of
Lebanese airspace.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that Qatar would be actively involved in Lebanon’s reconstruction file,
adding, “We look forward to achieving a partnership with Lebanon.”
He further commented, “Since the beginning of this year, indicators in the region are moving
positively.”
Concluding his remarks, he said, “We aim to achieve all terms of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and
implement the second phase.”
The Qatari Prime Minister arrived with a delegation at Rafic Hariri International Airport for an official
visit to Lebanon, where he is scheduled to meet several Lebanese officials.
