In an interview, the director of the SVR highlights Russia’s views on certain topics such as the Israeli failure on October 7 and the possibility of a nuclear war.
Director of Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergei Naryshkin, discussed topics ranging from the Palestinian Resistance’s October 7 operation to NATO’s actions regarding the Ukrainian-Russian war in an interview with Soloviev Live show.
According to Naryshkin, the Palestinian Resistance’s Operation Al Aqsa Flood was a show of the “absolute failure” of Israeli intelligence. “First of all, this is the failure of intelligence, which was considered one of the strongest in the world, this is an absolute failure. And, in general, officials should face consequences for this failure.”
This comes as the Palestinian Resistance motions for Russia to moderate negotiations. During an interview with Sputnik, Hamas political bureau deputy head Moussa Abu Marzouk stated that the Palestinian Resistance suggested that Russia become involved in resolving the war on Gaza in counterbalance to the US and “Israel”.
“We want Russia to be the main actor in counterbalance to the US and Israel. We call for it and we propose that Russia be backed by several countries which support it in this. And we will seek to achieve this goal to find balance in the issue,” Marzouk said.
Russia attempted to implement a ceasefire back in October when the war on Gaza first started and before it became a bloodbath, but Russia’s resolution was vetoed by the US in the UN Security Council.
On the West and NATO
The director of the SVR also mentioned during his interview that the US and the UK were both devising plots against Russia. Specifically, he said, “The Americans and Brits are participating in the training of special operations forces and intelligence officers to conduct subversive work against our country.”
Regarding the deployment of NATO troops to fight alongside Ukraine and against Russia, Naryshkin said the statements [made by French President Emmanuel Macron and other NATO nation leaders] threatened the world with the risk of nuclear war.
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin made similar remarks and cautioned Western nations, stating that sending troops to engage in the war in Ukraine could lead to the risk of provoking a nuclear war.
“We did not start this war in Donbas. As I have said many times, we will do everything to end it, to eradicate Nazism. To fulfill all the tasks of the special military operation. To protect the sovereignty and security of our citizens,” he stressed.
While Putin has previously expressed concerns about a confrontation between NATO and Russia, his nuclear warning on Thursday marked one of his most unequivocal statements on the matter.
Putin specifically mentioned a proposal put forth by French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday. The idea involved European NATO members deploying ground troops to Ukraine, but this suggestion was promptly dismissed by the United States, Germany, Britain, and other nations.
The constant Western interference in Russian affairs has prompted Putin to threaten the West with hitting their locations.
“The West provoked the conflict in Ukraine, in the Middle East, in other regions of the world, and continues to lie, without any embarrassment, saying that Russia allegedly intends to attack Europe,” the Russian President maintained.
Due to that, “[Western nations] must realize that we also have weapons that can hit targets on their territory. All this really threatens a conflict with the use of nuclear weapons and the destruction of civilization. Don’t they get that?!” Putin added.
