On the sidelines of the “Gaza Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference” held in Jordan, President Mahmoud Abbas met today with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, during which he expressed his great appreciation to Egypt for its steadfast positions and support for the rights of the Palestinian people; above all the right to embody their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Resident Abbas thanked Sisi for organizing this important international conference on emergency humanitarian response for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip who are subjected to genocide and starvation by the Israeli occupation.
He further praised Egypt for its continuous sponsorship of reconciliation efforts and its important role in putting an end to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid and preventing displacement.
The two presidents discussed ways to promote and strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in all fields. They also agreed to continue consultations on various topics of common interest, within the framework of cooperation and coordination between the two leaderships.
The President briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, stressing the need for an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip, and the acceleration of the introduction of aid to avoid the risk of real famine facing the population of Gaza due to the occupation’s control and closure of all border crossings.
The two presidents also discussed the importance of transferring the Palestinian clearance revenues withheld by the Israeli occupation.
The President briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, stressing the need for an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression against our people, the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip, and the acceleration of the introduction of aid to avoid the risk of real famine facing our people due to the occupation control of all the crossings of the Strip and their closure and the importance of releasing the confiscated Palestinian funds.
The President stressed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian State, and falls under its responsibility and administration, maintaining that the occupation’s plans to separate Gaza cannot be tolerated or dealt with.
The president touched on the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, the continued crimes of terrorist colonists and the desecration of Muslim and Christian holy sites, especially in the city of Jerusalem.
President Abbas stressed that the State of Palestine will continue to seek full membership in the United Nations, underscoring the importance of obtaining more recognition of the State of Palestine from countries that have not yet done so.
For his part, the Egyptian President reiterated his country’s firm positions in support of the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and the embodiment of their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He stressed Egypt’s continued efforts with various parties to reach an immediate ceasefire, ensure the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and prevent displacement.
