Iranian Missile Lands Close to Mossad Headquarters in Tel Aviv
A video circulating on social media shows the site of an Iranian missile explosion, landing less than a kilometer from the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, in Tel Aviv. The video quickly gained traction, revealing the intensity of recent escalations in the region.
CNN Verification of the Video
American news network CNN verified the authenticity of the footage. The video, reportedly taken from an apartment in a high-rise building in Herzliya, a city near the Mossad headquarters, captures the immediate aftermath of the explosion. The footage highlights the proximity of the missile strike to one of Israel’s most sensitive security installations.
PBS Reporter Shares Footage
Nick Schifrin, a PBS correspondent, shared a video showing a large crater caused by the Iranian missile in Tel Aviv, with surrounding vehicles covered in ash. In the video, Schifrin states, “This is the impact of one of the Iranian ballistic missiles. You can see the crater, about 30 feet deep and maybe 50 feet wide.” He also pointed out the Mossad building near the site.
Iranian Military Statement
Following the missile strike, Iran’s Chief of Staff, Mohammad Bagheri, mentioned that Mossad was one of the intended targets of the attack. Bagheri stated, “We had the capability to strike Israel’s economic infrastructure, but we targeted only military bases.”
He also mentioned that other targets included the Mossad base, Nevatim Airbase, Hatzerim base, strategic radar sites, and tank gathering centers.
Rising Tensions in the Region
The Iranian missile attack marks a significant escalation of tensions in the Middle East, despite ongoing efforts by Washington to mediate peace. The U.S. has been engaged in intense negotiations for months, with repeated calls to halt violence in Gaza.
President Joe Biden has faced growing criticism, both domestically and internationally, over the U.S.’s military support for Israel. Similar criticism has also been directed at Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for the upcoming presidential election.
