On Wednesday, the Lebanese Army confirmed that an Israeli force briefly entered Lebanese territory in the south before withdrawing. This incursion occurred shortly after Hezbollah reported clashes with “infiltrating” Israeli forces in a southern Lebanese town.
Lebanese Army’s Statement on the Incident
According to the Lebanese Army’s statement, “An Israeli enemy force breached the Blue Line by approximately 400 meters into Lebanese territory in the Khirbet Yaroun and Adaisseh Gate areas, then withdrew shortly thereafter.”
Hezbollah Reports Clashes
Earlier, Hezbollah stated that it engaged in clashes with Israeli forces “infiltrating” the town of Maroun al-Ras in southern Lebanon. The statement mentioned “ongoing” clashes that reportedly resulted in “injuries” among the Israeli forces.
The Director of Media Relations for Hezbollah commented after the clashes, saying, “We are only in the first round.” He added, “We have enough fighters, weapons, and ammunition to repel Israel.”
Escalation in the Region
Later in the day, the Israeli Army reported detecting about 40 rockets launched from Lebanese territory towards the Upper Galilee, some of which were intercepted. Israeli Army Radio reported that more than 110 rockets had been fired from Lebanon since the morning hours, highlighting a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities.
