This Monday morning, Israeli airstrikes targeted towns in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley to the east, while sirens rang out in parts of northern Israel’s Galilee after rockets were launched from Lebanon.
In a statement released earlier today, the Israeli military confirmed that the air force continues to strike numerous rocket launch platforms, military buildings, and other Hezbollah infrastructure aimed at Israeli territories. It also emphasized that ground operations in southern Lebanon, as well as in Gaza, are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Ziv Medical Center in Safed reported that it received 15 wounded individuals from northern combat zones overnight.
In response, Hezbollah announced it had shelled a gathering of Israeli soldiers at Mount Canaan near the town of Bleida in southern Lebanon. Israeli Home Front Command confirmed sirens went off in Menara, Margaliot, and Zar’it in Western Galilee, as well as in Shetula, Avivim, Yiron, and Karmiel, following detected rocket launches from Lebanon.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, 20 rockets were fired toward Karmiel in the Upper Galilee. Additionally, alarms were triggered following the detection of a drone incursion into the area.
Earlier reports from Israeli media indicated that over 170 rockets were launched from Lebanon on Sunday, sparking widespread fires across the region. Hezbollah also claimed to have downed an Israeli Hermes 900 drone and executed multiple operations targeting Tirat HaCarmel base near Haifa, Shimson base, and Biriya air defense base.
In a statement issued early Monday, Hezbollah said it launched rocket barrages at Kiryat Shmona, Beit Hillel base, and an Israeli army assembly point at Malikiyah, in addition to shelling an artillery position in Odem. They also claimed attacks on Israeli forces in Khallat Wardeh and eastern Marwahin, as well as an Israeli troop movement at Mount Kahil near Maroun al-Ras.
Israeli Airstrikes on Beirut’s Southern Suburbs
The escalation of violence continues with Israeli jets and drones conducting 12 airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs. The bombings targeted buildings and offices associated with the Qard al-Hasan Foundation, with several structures completely leveled and fires breaking out in multiple locations.
Other Qard al-Hasan offices in the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon were similarly hit by Israeli strikes.
Since September 23, 2023, Israel has expanded its war on Lebanon, including large-scale air raids on most areas of the country, including Beirut, and launched a ground invasion in the south following clashes with Hezbollah and other Palestinian factions in response to Israel’s attack on Gaza on October 7, 2023.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 2,464 deaths and 11,530 injuries in Lebanon, with many of the victims being women and children. Over 1.34 million people have been displaced, according to official Lebanese reports.
Hezbollah continues its daily retaliation with rockets, drones, and artillery, striking military positions and Israeli settlements. While Israel has reported some losses, military censorship has restricted full disclosure of the damages and casualties, according to observers.
