Putin Declares Russia Will Respond to All Challenges Regardless of Escalation
Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia’s adversaries can escalate the situation if they wish, but Russia will always respond to any challenge. In an interview with Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin on Sunday, Putin commented, “We see what our current adversaries are doing, and they are escalating the situation. If they want to escalate further, let them do so; we will always respond to any challenge.”
He further added
“When our current adversaries and potential partners hear this, understand it, and realize it, they will understand that it’s necessary to look for compromise solutions.”
In response to questions about whether the world is heading towards a third world war, Putin considered it unnecessary to scare anyone, yet acknowledged that there are many growing risks.
Earlier this month, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned that U.S. actions in the realm of international security could lead to dire, if not catastrophic, consequences. Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club, Ryabkov stated, “Washington, in its quest to maintain global dominance, is ready to provoke more strategic risks, play on the brink, and even beyond the brink, increasing reckless pressure on those countries it perceives as adversaries. Here, we are primarily talking about those nations possessing military nuclear capabilities – Russia, China, and North Korea. Thus, the geopolitical games initiated by Washington can lead to very serious, even catastrophic consequences.”
Previously, Putin has noted that NATO countries are increasing military spending and forming strike force groups near Russian borders. During an expanded meeting of Russia’s Defense Ministry leadership, Putin said, “NATO countries themselves are increasing military spending, and strike forces of the alliance are being assembled and deployed near Russian borders; the number of U.S. forces in Europe has exceeded 100,000 individuals.” He also highlighted NATO’s increased presence in the Asia-Pacific region and the training for deploying missile systems there.
