Saudi Security Forces Dismantle Two Drug Trafficking Networks Involving Officials
Saudi security agencies have successfully dismantled two drug smuggling networks where
officials from governmental and security entities within the Kingdom were involved.
An official source from the Saudi Ministry of Interior stated that the operation was conducted
based on security follow-ups on drug smuggling and promotion activities into and within the
Kingdom, utilizing information gathered by the specialized department of the Ministry.
The source clarified that the two networks were active in smuggling and trading drugs in the
regions of Riyadh and Jazan, utilizing King Khalid International Airport and Farasan Island.
According to the announcement by the Saudi Ministry of Interior, the criminal networks
comprised 13 individuals, including one from the Ministry of Interior, four from the Zakat, Tax
and Customs Authority, two from the Ministry of Defense, and three residents of Yemeni and
Syrian nationalities.
These criminal networks specialized in trafficking amphetamine tablets and hashish, with legal
actions having been taken against them, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that the security agencies will confront anyone who dares to
compromise the security, stability, and safety of the Kingdom, its citizens, and residents.
The statement from the Ministry of Interior underscored that the security forces in the Kingdom
are vigilant against all criminal schemes aimed at targeting the nation’s security and its youth
with drugs.
