Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated Wednesday that assassinating Hamas political bureau director Ismail Haniyeh will not help “Israel” accomplish its aims, condemning the aggression.
“As before, the Zionist barbarians will again fail to achieve their goals through killing,” Erdogan said X.
Erdogan also denounced the “treacherous assassination” and described it as a “despicable act aimed at undermining the Palestinian cause… demoralizing and intimidating Palestinians.”
The Hamas Resistance movement mourned on Wednesday the martyrdom of the head of its political bureau and leader, Ismail Haniyeh, in a “treacherous Zionist strike” and assassination targeting his place of residence in Tehran, Iran. Haniyeh was in the country participating in the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Iranian president.
The Turkish leader expressed optimism for a stronger Islamic world and an “alliance of humanity” capable of ending “Israel’s” aggression. He stated that Turkey will continue to assist Palestinians in establishing a sovereign and independent Palestinian state.
Erdogan threatened the Israeli regime on Sunday that Turkey might send forces to occupied Palestine.
“We must be very strong so that Israel can’t do these things to Palestine,” he said, referring to the Israeli ongoing genocide in Gaza.
“Just as we entered [Nagorno-]Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we might do the same to them. There is nothing we can’t do. We must only be strong.”
Directly after his statement, top Israeli officials went hysteric, even threatening the Turkish president that he would face the same fate as former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
‘Israel’ to suffer severe punishment for Haniyeh’s blood: Khamenei
The Israeli occupation “brought upon itself the most severe punishment,” the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Republic of Iran, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, affirmed, following the Israeli attack that targeted the Iranian capital of Tehran and the assassination of the head of Hamas’ Political Bureau, Martyr Ismail Haniyeh.
Sayyed Khamenei stressed that retribution for Haniyeh’s blood is “Iran’s duty because he was martyred on our soil,” adding that Haniyeh’s assassination, who was a guest in Iran, “also set the ground for [the enemy’s] harsh punishment upon itself.”
Speaking about the martyred leader, Sayyed Khamenei said Haniyeh dedicated his life to the struggle [for liberation], was ready for martyrdom, and sacrificed his children on this path, noting that the “great Resistance Front is in mourning.”
Consequently, Iran announced a three-day mourning period.
