Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which the city of Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, will host the meeting of heads of state of the “BRICS” group in the year 2024.
And the text of the decree, which was published today, Monday, on the official portal of government information, stated: “Determining (the city of) Kazan as the venue for the 2024 meeting of (BRICS) heads of state.”
The Russian President also instructed, by decree, to establish an organizing committee headed by Assistant to the Russian President Yuri Ushakov. Within a month, Ushakov will have to choose the members of the committee and develop an action plan during Russia’s presidency of the “BRICS” alliance in the year 2024.
The Republic of South Africa took over from China at the beginning of this year 2023 the duties of chairing the “BRICS” group, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
In 2006, Russia, Brazil, India and China established the “BRICS” group, which, after South Africa’s accession to it in 2011, turned into “BRICS”.
Member states link banking and monetary agreements to exchange currencies and increase trade in local currencies to reduce dependence on the dollar.
