Jenifer Austin, an operations manager with UNRWA in Gaza, said that 88 schools run by the UN agency have been converted to emergency shelters, with e “177,000 people seeking refuge with the safety of the blue flag of the UN.”
She said the UN agency for palestinian refugees has supplied food and water for 12 days, when accounting only for those displaced staying at the shelters and not those living elsewhere in Gaza.
“We are so stretched. We’ve got huge demands on our on our supply lines, and of course, the supply has been cut,” she said, referring to Israel’s announcement of a full siege of the enclave.
“Our own compound here where I’m calling from, we’ve been in a bunker for six hours yesterday completely bombarded around us,” she said. “Our whole infrastructure here is just about down we and we are we are relatively safe here compared to the to the people of Gaza.”
