The chief commander of the Iranian Army says the survival of the extremist cabinet led by Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinges on the continuation of the regime’s devastating war on the Gaza Strip.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi contended that ending the Gaza war will lead to the downfall of Netanyahu’s regime.
“The survival of Netanyahu’s right-wing and extremist regime depends on the continuation of the war, and if the war stops, this regime will fall,” he said, adding that the Gaza onslaught is the “glass urn of Netanyahu’s life.”
Mousavi highlighted the failure of the Israeli regime to achieve its objectives of “destroying” the Hamas resistance group and finding captives held in the besieged Gaza.
“Netanyahu has been struggling for six months with the full support of the Americans, and of course, he did not achieve any of his goals. The Zionists … are stuck in a quagmire,” he said.
Israel waged its genocidal US-backed war on Gaza on October 7 after Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
So far, the occupying regime has killed at least 33,175 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 75,886 others. On Sunday, the Israeli military announced that it has withdrawn its ground forces from Khan Yunis in southern Gaza after months of fierce fighting.Asked about the pullout, the Iranian Army chief said, “These are operational tactics and we should see for what purpose they have done this. Now they have turned to bombings again.”
