Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, in a telephone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, emphasized Iran’s right to take countermeasures against the Zionist regime.
Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani says it is imperative to put an end to the Israeli regime’s vicious scheme to expand the scale of war in the region.
In a phone conversation with Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani on Monday, Bagheri Kani said the Israeli regime continues its atrocities and crimes against the innocent people of Palestine, particularly women and children.
Pointing to Israel’s insolent move in assassinating Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Hamas resistance movement, in Tehran last week, the top Iranian diplomat warned that silence on the regime’s evil acts will be detrimental to regional stability.
“Silence towards the [Israeli] regime’s recent actions is a kind of rewarding them. Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves it its right to take countermeasures based on international rules and procedures,” Bagheri Kani said.
The Bahraini foreign minister, for his part, said Manama underscores the need to establish an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He called for providing support for civilians and facilitating the dispatch of humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged Palestinian people.
Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran on July 31, while he was in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Israel has killed more than 39,600 Palestinians, mostly children and women, in Gaza since October
