Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan discussed the developments in the Middle East, North Africa and the Black Sea region on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The US has once again backed Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza, blocking a UN Security Council statement that would have blamed the Israeli forces for killing Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid in the besieged strip. The statement, which was drafted by Algeria, was supported by 14 of the 15 council members on Thursday, Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian UN ambassador, told reporters. A member of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy serving as a military advisor has been killed in an Israeli strike on Syria. In a statement on Friday, the IRGC Navy said its member — Reza Zarei — was assassinated along with two members of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement on Friday. They were killed in an Israeli attack on Syria’s northwestern Baniyas port earlier in the day, it added.
