An analysis of satellite imagery conducted by Al Jazeera’s Sanad Agency shows that the Israeli army failed to achieve any new progress advancing on the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip between December 24 and 30.
Satellite imagery obtained by Sanad and taken on December 30 indicates fierce battles taking place in the Katiba area, Gamal Abdel Nasser Street, and west of Abu Hamid roundabout in Khan Younis.
Comparing the recent images with those taken on December 24, Sanad was able to ascertain that Israeli vehicles are trying to make progress to no avail and have continued to remain in their position in the same areas.
Satellite images on December 24 showed the presence of vehicles around the Abu Hamid roundabout, but they could not position themselves in the same area on December 30 and returned to their positions around the Bani Suheila Cemetery and the schools located near the roundabout.
The Israeli army intensified its air strikes on large residential blocks located in the vicinity of Khan Younis East Park and Abu Hamid Mosque between December 24 and 30, causing total and partial destruction of most residential buildings and homes.
