On Friday, the Israeli army reported that Hezbollah fired approximately 222 shells from Lebanon toward Israel.
Hezbollah also announced on Friday that its fighters targeted Israeli forces in a border region in southern Lebanon. According to the group, its artillery units struck Israeli military vehicles and personnel in the Maroun al-Ras plain, confirming injuries among Israeli forces, as reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).
In a statement, the Israeli military said it had killed Mohammad Rashid Skaffi, a key Hezbollah communications commander, in a “precise strike based on intelligence information” in Beirut on Thursday, as reported by Reuters.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s government emergency committee confirmed that 153 Israeli airstrikes hit Lebanon within a 24-hour period.
Additionally, three hospitals in Lebanon suspended services on Friday due to heavy Israeli airstrikes in their vicinity. On Thursday, Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad announced that at least 97 rescue workers, including paramedics and firefighters, had been killed, with 40 of them dying within three days this week.
With repeated strikes on rescue teams in several areas, Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati initiated diplomatic talks to pressure Israel to allow rescue and relief teams access to bombed sites and facilitate the transfer of victims and the wounded.
