Israeli Airstrikes Targeting Lebanon
Israeli airstrikes have repeatedly targeted various towns in eastern and southern Lebanon. In response, Hezbollah announced that it had shelled Israeli positions with multiple rocket attacks and engaged in clashes with Israeli forces in the south.
According to reports from Al Jazeera, Israeli airstrikes hit the outskirts of the town of Bazourieh in the Tyre district, as well as the town of Arnaba in the Sidon district. Further airstrikes targeted regions in Nabatieh, Marjayoun, and Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon.
Moreover, additional airstrikes struck the towns of Qlaia, Arsal, and Mashghara in the Beqaa Valley in eastern Lebanon.
Rising Casualties from Israeli Aggression
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported a significant increase in casualties due to Israeli aggression since October 8, 2023. The ministry stated that the death toll has risen to 2,306, with 10,698 injured. On Sunday, the ministry confirmed that the airstrikes resulted in 51 fatalities and 174 injuries.
Hezbollah’s Response in Southern Lebanon
In a counteraction, Hezbollah claimed it inflicted casualties on Israeli soldiers after clashing with them at close range during an attempted infiltration near the town of Mais al-Jabal in southern Lebanon. Additionally, Hezbollah reported targeting two groups of Israeli soldiers in the border area of Khallat Warda in southern Lebanon, as well as the Manara settlement in northern Israel, with rocket barrages.
The group stated that its fighters ambushed an Israeli unit after carefully monitoring its attempts to infiltrate the outskirts of Mais al-Jabal. This resulted in intense clashes, causing both Israeli fatalities and injuries.
Furthermore, Hezbollah’s artillery targeted Israeli troop movements near the Fatima Gate in the southern town of Kfar Kila. In another statement, Hezbollah mentioned attacking the Israeli logistics base of Snobar in the occupied Golan Heights with a rocket barrage.
Israeli Casualties from Hezbollah Attacks
Hezbollah reported a significant operation in which it targeted an Israeli army camp in the Haifa area using drones. Israeli sources confirmed that three individuals were killed, and 67 others were injured, including four in critical condition, though they did not disclose if all were military personnel.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority noted that 150 rocket launches from Lebanon toward Israel were detected throughout the day. Additionally, Israeli media reported injuries to approximately 100 soldiers during the clashes in Lebanon and the explosion in Benyamina, south of Haifa.
Escalating Violence Since September
Since September 23, Israel has intensified its military operations, which began in Gaza on October 7, 2023, extending to most areas of Lebanon, including the capital, Beirut. These actions have involved unprecedented airstrikes and ground incursions in the south.
Daily, Hezbollah retaliates with rockets, drones, and artillery targeting military sites and settlements. While Israel publicly acknowledges some of its casualties, military censorship imposes strict limitations on reporting most losses, according to observers.
Conclusion
The ongoing violence continues to escalate, affecting civilians and military personnel on both sides. The situation in Lebanon remains precarious as Hezbollah and Israeli forces clash amid continuous airstrikes and retaliatory attacks.
