Hezbollah announced on Wednesday that it launched a missile strike on an Israeli military intelligence base near Tel Aviv in response to what it called “Israeli aggression and massacres.”
In a statement, Hezbollah said, “At 08:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the resistance launched a precise missile strike on the Glilot base, which belongs to the Israeli Military Intelligence Unit 8200 in the outskirts of Tel Aviv.”
This is not the first time Hezbollah has targeted the Glilot base. In response, the Israeli army carried out a series of night airstrikes on Hezbollah strongholds in southern Beirut.
Since September 23, Israel has intensified its airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Beirut, southern Lebanon, and eastern regions, followed by ground operations at the end of the month.
On Sunday night, Israel conducted more airstrikes targeting branches of Hezbollah’s “Al-Qard Al-Hassan” association in southern Beirut and across Lebanon’s south and east. This association, which has been under U.S. sanctions for years, provides banking services to hundreds of thousands of clients and is accused by Israel of funding Hezbollah activities.
At least 1,552 people have been killed in the Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon since the intensified campaign began on September 23, particularly affecting the country’s southern and eastern regions, as well as southern Beirut, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
