Security Cooperation Strengthens: Syrian and Iranian Defense Ministers Meet in Damascus
In a move to bolster security ties between the two nations, Syrian Defense Minister General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Army and Armed Forces, met with his Iranian counterpart, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, the Iranian Defense Minister.
The meeting focused on discussing methods of coordination and cooperation between the
friendly armies, particularly in combating terrorism and its organizations in all its forms, as well
as exchanging information on this matter.
A formal reception took place at the Syrian Ministry of Defense building where, following the
playing of the national anthems of both countries, the ministers inspected the honor guard. This was followed by bilateral talks where they reviewed the latest developments and situations in the region.
In a similar vein, General Abdul Karim Mahmoud Ibrahim, the Chief of the General Staff of the
Army and Armed Forces, also met with the Iranian Defense Minister and his accompanying
delegation to discuss enhancing military cooperation, especially in training and sharing expertise
in counter-terrorism efforts.
This meeting is a clear indicator of the importance both Syria and Iran place on reinforcing their mutual security relations. In light of the changing international landscape, both countries are striving to strengthen their defensive capabilities through robust cooperation.
