Hezbollah announced on Tuesday that it had launched significant attacks on multiple Israeli targets, including Ramat David Airbase near Haifa and a military intelligence base near Tel Aviv. These attacks come amid heightened tensions and ongoing discussions about a ceasefire.
Drone Strike on Ramat David Airbase
In a statement, Hezbollah confirmed the deployment of drones to strike Ramat David Airbase, located 50 kilometers from the Lebanese border and southeast of Haifa.
“A squadron of kamikaze drones targeted Ramat David, a major Israeli airbase in the north housing combat squadrons. The drones hit their targets with precision,” Hezbollah’s statement said.
Missile Attack on Military Intelligence Base
Hezbollah also reported launching a barrage of precision missiles at the Glilot Military Intelligence Base on the outskirts of Tel Aviv.
“The attack targeted critical infrastructure with high accuracy,” the statement added.
Border Clashes and Troop Targeting
In addition to the strikes on key military installations, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for targeting Israeli soldiers stationed near four border towns:
- Maroun al-Ras
- Khiam
- Kfar Blum (hit with a rocket salvo)
- Manara (targeted with heavy rockets)
Furthermore, the group stated that its forces had fired rockets at troop gatherings in Avivim and Safed.
Escalation Amid U.S. Mediation
The timing of the attacks coincides with the visit of U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein to Beirut, aimed at brokering a ceasefire. While diplomatic efforts continue, the military escalation underscores the complexity of achieving a resolution.
Broader Context
The attacks reflect the intensifying hostilities along the Israel-Lebanon border. Hezbollah’s actions, coupled with Israel’s military operations, highlight the fragile security situation in the region, with both sides ramping up their strategies amid international calls for de-escalation.
