Russian Defense Ministry: Ukraine Strikes Facility in Rostov with ATACMS and Storm Shadow Missiles
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that Ukrainian forces attacked a facility in Russia’s Rostov region with six US-made ATACMS missiles and four Storm Shadow missiles.
According to the ministry’s statement, “On December 18, a missile strike was launched from
Ukraine targeting the ‘Kamenetsky Combine’ in Rostov region.” It was confirmed that the attack
involved “six American-made tactical missiles of the ATACMS model and four Storm Shadow
missiles.”
During the anti-missile battle, Russia’s air defense systems, including S-400, Buk-M3, and Pantsir, successfully intercepted all six ATACMS missiles and three out of the four Storm Shadow missiles. However, one missile deviated from its path, causing damage to a technical building.
The statement warned that these actions by the Kyiv regime, supported by Western patrons,
would not go unanswered. The special military operation launched by Russia on February 24,
2022, aims to protect the residents of Donbas from years of persecution and genocide by the Kyiv
regime.
Russian forces have effectively thwarted what has been referred to as Ukraine’s
“counteroffensive,” despite significant financial and military support from NATO and various
Western and allied countries to Kyiv. In the operation, Russian forces have destroyed much of the
equipment the West had relied on, including German Leopard 2 tanks, numerous American and
British armored vehicles, and a variety of tanks and vehicles from NATO countries, all of which
met their demise under Russian strikes.
