Biden to Deliver Farewell Address from the Oval Office on Wednesday
The White House announced on Friday that President Joe Biden will deliver a farewell address to the nation from the Oval Office next Wednesday, just five days before his successor, Donald Trump, takes the oath of office.
According to the White House statement, “On Wednesday, January 15th, at 8:00 p.m. (4:00 a.m. Moscow time on January 16th), the President will deliver his farewell address to the nation.”
This speech will be Biden’s final remarks as President of the United States, offering his last opportunity to speak to both Americans and the global audience before leaving office at noon on January 20th. This address follows another significant speech set for Monday at the State Department, where he will focus on his foreign policy legacy.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters earlier on Friday that Biden would reflect on his “more than 50 years as a public official.”
The farewell address is a traditional gesture by American leaders before departing the White House, providing a moment to summarize their tenure as President of the United States.
Subsequently, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States on January 20th.
