New Entry Requirements for Traveling to Syria via Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines has announced a set of new entry rules for passengers wishing to travel to Syria,
following directives from the Syrian Arab Republic’s authorities. Here’s what you need to know:
Citizens from All Countries Allowed Except Israel and Iran: Travelers from around the globe
are permitted to enter Syria, with the notable exception of citizens from Israel and Iran.
Syrian Citizens: Syrian nationals only need to provide documentation proving their Syrian
citizenship to enter the country.
Lebanese Citizens: Lebanese citizens can enter Syria if one of their parents holds Syrian
citizenship, or if they possess a residence permit or visa from another country.
Journalists: Journalists are required to obtain a special permit to enter Syria.
On Wednesday, Turkish Airlines announced the resumption of its flights to the Syrian capital,
Damascus, effective from January 23, 2025.
In a post on the platform “X,” Bilal Ekşi, the General Manager of Turkish Airlines, stated that the
airline would resume organizing flights to Damascus.
Ekşi clarified that the airline will schedule three weekly flights to Damascus starting from January
23, 2025, marking an end to years of suspension.
