Erdogan Turkey Won’t Allow Terrorist Organizations in Northern Syria
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared that Turkey will not permit the presence of
“terrorist organizations” in Northern Syria and is prepared to take necessary actions to ensure this.
Speaking to journalists aboard his return flight from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan, Erdogan stated
that the “new Syrian administration led by Ahmad Al-Sharaa seems committed to fighting these
terrorist groups.” He added that during his earlier meeting with Al-Sharaa in Ankara, they discussed the
steps required to combat these organizations.
The recent encounter between Erdogan and Ahmad Al-Sharaa, the head of Syria’s transitional phase,
has added to the ambiguity surrounding the fate of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), amidst Turkish
threats of the necessity to disarm them.
These developments come amid reports suggesting that the United States is planning a military
withdrawal from Syria, leaving the future of Kurdish forces in a gray area.
