New Arab Move Against Israel Before the International Criminal Court
The Arab Parliament has taken a bold step by submitting a letter to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), emphasizing its determination to collect the necessary evidence and documents related to crimes committed by the Israeli occupation entity against the Palestinian people.
A delegation from the Arab Parliament, led by Deputy Speaker Ahmed Al-Jubouri and Nasser Abu Bakr, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament’s Palestine Committee, met with ICC Prosecutor Karim Ali Khan and his assisting legal team. During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the Arab Parliament’s efforts to support and advocate for the Palestinian cause. They also discussed a resolution issued by the Parliament to form a dedicated team tasked with filing a complaint against the Israeli occupation entity for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity targeting Palestinians.
The delegation handed over a letter from the Speaker of the Arab Parliament to the ICC Prosecutor. The letter reaffirmed the Parliament’s commitment to gathering evidence and documentation of the crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation entity against the steadfast Palestinian people on their land. The Arab Parliament pledged to submit this evidence to the ICC as soon as possible.
Additionally, the Arab Parliament delegation expressed its desire to invite the ICC Prosecutor to one of its sessions. This would provide an opportunity to seek clarification on the progress of the Palestinian case before the International Criminal Court.
The Arab Parliament had previously established a team to prepare a complaint for the ICC, documenting war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli occupation during the genocidal war against the Palestinian people. This conflict spanned fifteen months, from October 2023 until the announcement of a ceasefire.
This move underscores the Arab Parliament’s unwavering support for Palestine and its pursuit of justice through international legal channels. By collaborating with the ICC, the Parliament aims to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its actions and ensure that the voices of the Palestinian people are heard on the global stage.
