The United Nations refugee chief has said that he foresees more displacement in the Middle East due to the conflict that has internally displaced 85 percent of Gaza’s population. “The events that have occurred in Israel and Gaza since October 7 are outside the mandate of UNHCR,” Filippo Grandi said at the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva. “Tragically, however, we foresee more civilian deaths and suffering and also further displacement that threatens the region.” Source: AlJazeera

The media office of Gaza’s government has announced the killing of journalist Abdel Kareem Oudeh as a result of an Israeli attack. A tally by the non-profit Committee to Protect Journalists puts the number of journalists killed between October 7 and December 11 at 63, the vast majority of them in Gaza.
